Common Air Conditioning System Problems

Leaking Liquid

In the case of a leakage, merely adding refrigerant will not be enough. We will need to locate the leak, fix it and then recharge the system with the right amount of refrigerant. Aircon systems work at their most efficient when filled to the manufacturer’s specifications. Too much or too little will affect the performance of the air conditioner, hence regular servicing is essential.

Smells

Mositure builds up due to the cooling and warming cycles of the system, and poor evaporation of stagnant water can result in mould, fungi, etc in the unit. Cleaning the system as well as changing filters would be required to eliminate the odour.

Noises

Excessive noise can often come from the unit, usually as a result of a dislodged or damaged fanbelt. Replacing the fan belt as well as checking bearings will be required, together with proper lubrication of moving parts.

System not working at all

If the system won’t work at all, it could be a fault in the electronics of the system and these will need to be tested so the fault can be traced.

Erratic Behaviour

If there is a problem with the thermostat sensor in the control panel the unit may behave erratically. This could be due to a displaced or failed sensor which would need to be rectified.

Block Grills

If grills become blocked, this can cause problems with air flow and affect the operation of the aircon system and will require careful cleaning. This is usually conducted as part of routine maintenance.

Problem External fan problems

The heat is transferred outside via the external fan, so any problems with this will cause cooling problems and the compressor may overheat and trip out. This will need to be repaired.

We can carry out repairs to all makes of air conditioner including Fujitsu, Samsung, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, LG, Sanyo, Panasonic, Toshiba, Daikin, and others.
